Some say that the amount a sales person will work is a function of their income needs minus their current passive income.
If you hired a contractor already receiving passive benefits you've now decreased the production you can expect from that person (on average).
What to do?
Assume they are receiving benefits upfront. Ask them how much unemployment benefits they are currently receive. Then find out when benefits are supposed to expire and what they need to do to keep those benefits. Find out their living experiences, and this will give you an indication of performance.
